"Vienna at Night: The Two Schools"
We are delighted to present the exciting chamber ensemble “Trio Callas” on their first visit to Ottawa.
Founded in 2021 by three friends who met in Mozart’s Salzburg. Within a year of its formation, the Trio Callas was awarded at the FNAPEC
These award-winning young musicians have thrilled audiences throughout Europe and Japan and will soon play engagements in the USA, Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay as part of their tour of the Americas.
In addition to performing the traditional repertoire, the group collaborates with artists from outside classical music. In 2023, the ensemble began a collaboration with Brazilian jazz multi-instrumentalist André Mehmari, commissioning and premiering his composition.
Currently under the guidance of Cibrán Sierra Vázquez (Cuarteto Quiroga) at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg and supported by the “Yehudi Menuhin – Live Music Now” Foundation, the trio has worked with the Cuarteto Casals, Trio di Parma, Giovanni Gnocchi, Vienna Piano Trio, Benjamin Schmid, Connie Shih, and Thomas Riebl.
“They have proven to possess superb technique, unique and sensitive palette of colours and outstanding innate musicality.” Connie Shih Internationally renowned Canadian Pianist
